Porsche 918 Spyder recalled for faulty suspension

Porsche has once again issued a recall for the 918 Spyder , its flagship model that forms one third of the hybrid supercar Holy Trinity that also includes the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari. According to a notice posted by the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 306 examples of the 918 will have to be recalled for “a cracked lower control arm that may affect vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash.” Considering Porsche only made 918 units of the model, this recall likely accounts for all units sold in the US. The 918 is powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.6 litre V8 engine and a pair of electric motors, giving it a total of 887 hp and 1,275 Nm of torque. A seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission sends drive to all four corners of the car, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 2.8 seconds, and a top speed of 340 km/h. Previous recalls fo...
