Fiat will halt production in Italy in Sept and Oct

It would seem that the situation for Fiat in Europe is dire. A report from Automotive News Europe states that the Italian carmaker will stop production at its Pomigliano plant in Italy for two weeks in September and October. The cause: weak car demand. The workers of the troubled factory, where the Panda is made, will be placed on a temporary layoff scheme from September 24 to 28 and from October 1 to 5. This comes after the factory’s extension of the summer break by two weeks. This is not a shocker. On July 3, Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said that Fiat would shut a plant unless the carmaker could find an economically feasible way to use the factory to build for North America. While Fiat is bleeding in Europe, the Italian carmaker has found profits in North America. The Poligliano factory is the second plant to be shut down after Fiat pulled the plug off a fact...
