Kedah caps state roads speeds at 70 km/h until July 25

Kedah has announced that the speed limit on all its state roads has been reduced to 70 km/h from the usual 80 km/h for the festive season. The reduced speed limit will be in effect until July 25, Bernama reports. The decision to reduce the speed limit was made at the weekly meeting of the state executive council yesterday, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said in a statement. He advised all road users to exercise care and abide by the speed limit. Last week, Melaka announced it had capped the speed limit on its state roads to 70 km/h until July 26. The state’s Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said that the speed limit was lowered from the normal 80 km/h to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the Hari Raya holidays.
