Latest: Sarawak poverty: 5.3% or 30% or...?

One of the biggest issues in the forthcoming Sarawak election is the level of development in Sarawak, or more specifically how many people have really benefited in this resource-rich state and how many have been left behind. Much of the BN propaganda will focus on how the official poverty rate is only 5.3 per cent. 5.3 per cent only-ah ? What about all those natives living without proper water and electricity supply and latrine facilities? How realistic is the official poverty rate figure? Coming up with a realistic poverty rate depends on how you set the income threshold, and whether that threshold is a true reflection of reality. .
