'Reports show Lynas plant is safe'

KUANTAN Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob yesterday reminded detractors to the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) in Gebeng, here that the affected residents would also include the sultan of Pahang and himself. He said the government would have not given the nod for Lynas Corporation Ltd to build the RM2 billion rare earth processing plant because "if the plant were as dangerous as claimed, I would have fled as my residence and even the sultan's palace are in Kuantan". "As menteri besar, I have access to all documents and reports related to LAMP, and the project is safe," Adnan said after attending the World Walking Day programme, organised by Nestle (M) Berhad, at Taman Gelora, here yesterday.
