Ignore your VC, or, the death of our academia - by Mohamad Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi (Mkini)

So when academic Rasdi said “ignore your VC” – that’s a good thing. Because we know VCs are implementers of one track political propaganda of ruling party. What we need to hear is more dissenting voices to break this monopoly/hegemony of official version over the discourse space regarding what is and ought to be or isn’t or ought not be in respect of just about every public/national issues…. The reason is simple. TDM’s dictated his way – whether the country went right or left. His successors could not dominate as effectively as him and all kinds of other voices try to compete. We have the ultras, the extremists, the bigoted, the fanatics all making their voices heard loud and stentorian to influence policies and national course.
